How tf you work in IB with no bonus...?
You are paid very low. An analyst 2 at WF is $125k base with up to 75% bonus
You don't have to wonder, you are underpaid. Associate at boutique in MCOL city with TC of $300k
1. Where’d you move from? (I don’t mean nationality, but prior work experience)
2. What are the hours like?
3. What’s the deal flow?
You are underpaid at a high level but the above needs to be answered to determine by how much.
- 110 base is low but if you’re working 9-6…
- If your prior work experience was accounting or non-finance, then you have to start somewhere and good for you for breaking in.
- if either of the above are a yes, plus you have very good deal flow, it’s a good training ground for where you’re at in life.
Either way, train up and then look to exit. But also, see why people above you are still there. Surely they aren’t making that low and staying unless there’s a massive trade-off.
Aside from research, I do in fact prepare teasers, CIMs, and will also do target outreach myself as well. I work on marketing materials typically when a target short list is being developed and pending approval.
My intentions are to stay. I agree with you in that this is a great stepping stone for me and I am nonetheless grateful to even have the role!
