A week is early. My irritation kicked in around week four and lasted for about two weeks.
I was using the 0.05% as well.
Tretinoin does take a while to kick in so I’d say be patient and not rush it to ruin your barrier.
You could start using it daily given the percentage and if you get dryness, maybe just layer it over a moisturizer. That and use an occlusive like Vaseline or Aquaphor ointment around the mouth or other sensitive areas.
Good idea! I’ll try that and Reddit too
I would wait before upping - sometimes the irritation can take some time to manifest and last thing you want to do is damage the skin barrier. Second checking out the tret subreddit!
Thanks! I don’t want to damage the skin for sure.
Need more information lol whats your routine? How have you been using it so far? (Nightly? With a buffer?) how much do you use?
Thanks for advice! Appreciate it. I’ll test out the routine you suggested over the next couple of weeks
It's too early to notice any side effects. Based on my experience, it could take around 2-4 weeks.

It takes 1-3 months for a new active, like retinol, to show results. Some Dermatologists even say up to 6 months to see results. When I first started retinol it was about 3mo mark I started to see a major improvement in my skin.
Hi! I think it is too soon to use it daily. Build tolerance on your skin first.
It took four to six weeks before I started experiencing this. Your skin is still adjusting. Start slow and be patient.
I wouldn't use it everyday personally, it's a slow build up and also you should be mixing stuff up rather than doing one thing over and over again
