Are you working barefoot? Maybe an arch support issue
this. I would get decent running shoes.
get a mat my friend. I had the same issue and then got a standing mat, the difference was amazing
Second this!
I own one and would never be able to stand all day. Your body will get tired from standing and you will compensate with poor posture putting stress on joints that isn't normal Just listen to your body when it comes to standing desk. When you get stiff, stand up, when you get tired sit down
Do you have a standing pad? Definitely want to get one of those.
Mat and/or arch support. I personally love my surfboard mat from Autonomous. It has an incline which gives some cool benefits and can be used a few different ways. https://www.autonomous.ai/office-accessories/anti-fatigue-mat I have indoor only Birkenstocks that I wear most of the time when I’m standing at my desk. I’m an overpronator so I need that arch support lest I get a bunch of bad alignment and tension on ankles, knees, etc.
This is the one I have also. I recommend it.
How long are you standing for? I'm in similar shape to you and don't have any issues. I stand between 1-3 hours a day. Usually like 2 though. One hour around lunch and again at the end of the day (4 or 5ish)
Ah, I stand for upto 3 hours at a time, and about 6-10 hours total. My chair is more of room decor right now. I figured if I can hike the mountains for 8 hours plus, the standing should have been no problem. Should have figured I wasn't wearing my oboz or carrying my black diamonds to the desk. 🙂

Standing is not the same as running. You use different muscles, in different ways, with different amounts of pressure applied. Just like with anything else, build your way up to standing. Start with 1 hour a day and work up to 4-6. You should still look to take sitting breaks. As others have said, what you are standing on, and whether you are wearing shoes makes a difference as well. And watch your posture!
As others have mentioned, you gotta support your feet if you’re standing all day
Thank you all. Very helpful.
I use a foam kitchen mat from Costco that I got for $20. It works great and I can usually make it 6 hours before sitting down. I'm going to get a balance board from Amazon next because I hear it's good for your core and posture.
Uplift Desk sells a cool wooden ‘surfboard’ you can balance on. I alternate between that and a standing mat at my desk.
Ooohh. I bought one too. Anyone have a standing mat they recommend?
Standing too much ( more than 15 mins per hour) can actually have seriously adverse effects in the long term. It’s best to mix and match between standing, sitting, and using an exercise ball as a seat occasionally.
