It’s so tragic honestly. These centers just care about profit too and their staff is so often overworked and underpaid. I don’t have a good solution but my experience with this with my dad was really eye-opening.

Sadly, the United states as a whole doesn’t value older adults and doesnt value truly value affordable or even free access to GOOD healthcare for any age group. Until those two things change in the country, our older adults will continue to experience mistreatment in this country unless theyre very affluent. I speak from experience of working with older adults for years in various settings within health care with an advanced degree. Just do a quick google search on how well other countries treat their older adults versus the United States, look at how much better healthcare is in other countries especially when individuals may not have health insurance plans that actually cover the cost of things is and you’ll see. Even with some form of health insurance, older adults in the United States still can very easily go without being able to afford all of the their medications that are essential for their health and there are no resources to truly provide any assistance.

I used to work in dementia care and seeing this worries me greatly. My facility was very fancy and was very expensive but I felt awful for those who weren't wealthy or had wealthy children. The residents families paid millions of dollars while most of the staff made next to nothing.
