I’ve landed somewhere in the middle but know reps who treat it as pure overhead and others who swear by it.
If the company has the proper tools that work, using them should make your job easier and provide you valuable insights and coaching to close your deals faster and generally at higher margin. If autonomy to you means lack of oversight or no documentation, that is a you problem. The incredible AI tools that are available to help you today are amazing. If you think you are smarter than they are, you will eventually be out of a job. Learn them, embrace them and excel with them or be replaced by someone who does. Companies don't have the time or money to waste on reps that don't want to use the tools that are provided. It also causes problems amongst the team because the rest of the team, as generally everyone has visibility into who is and who isn't using them.

I support CRM use when it helps the team sell better. I lose patience when updating the system starts taking more time than the actual customer work.
