Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??

Hell of a quick conclusion from two people who are not actually on this person's project
Just chill, the SM will roll you off when it makes sense.
My thought is that OP is already getting an average performance review based on what he/she said. Even though it's design, they could've asked where they could help even if it's more technical. Either be more proactive in getting involved or roll off if you don't see yourself growing in your role. I've been in a position where I literally did just combined spreadsheets for a client while a huge ERP was being deployed. I constantly asked how I could get involved since my current role was useless and they found me something on another team
Sounds like you haven't taken the initiative to learn other things
Here's why I said that:
The SM already has all the info necessary to make the decision to keep you on or roll you off. Bringing it up again is pointless in my opinion. At this point, it'll look like you're questioning their judgment. Maybe there is something else going on that you aren't aware of. Maybe the SM is trying to burn all of the remaining budget. Maybe the client requested you stay on while the new employee gets ramped up. Who knows.
I just don’t like the culture and the account :/ I feel that I’m going insane in this role. Everyday I go to work I have to mentalize myself and I get very anxious about going to work in general :( also within this role I don’t get to speak to anyone and it’s driving me crazy :/ )
Is your career counselor worth a damn?
Your CC is there to advocate for you, not just another layer of hierarchy. And if you don’t feel your CC is advocating for you, get a new one
Thanks! I just don’t want to be making enemies :/ but it’s probably worth mentioning it to my cc then! Thanks :)
The client now hired a new person into this project from their side and I feel that there is really no need for me to be in this project anymore. Besides that, we are currently in the design part of the project and most of the work is technical which I can’t really support on. Besides that my sm said that the client is trying to save money and I really would like to roll off of this project. But I am not sure if this could be badly seeing for me as an analyst?
So both you managers think it's not feasible that the reality is the position is actually not needed?
M1 can people get roll off that easily if it’s a staff aug project? The client likes me so I am just afraid that it might be a problem... the project is also over staffed since we are working with other vendors too
I don't think it matters.
Lol. Just take it easy. Sounds like an easy billable role.
What can I tell my cc? I just don’t want to be seen like I’m incompetent or anything. Is it even a good idea to mention this to my cc? Couldn’t my current manager get annoyed that I bypassed her? Even though we have had this conversation numerous times?
@M1 should an analyst, consultant, or Manager never question an SM/MD? I think that's a recipe for folks to disengage. There is as good of a chance that OP is assessing the situation as the chance the SM is. I don't know who's correct, but as I stated, no reason to invalidate a point of view.
Additionally, all of the reasons you mentioned are reasons that clearly have not been communicated from the SM to OP.
@M2 is
