I am on Mounjaro, started on 2.5, now 5, also 5’3” with the goal to be 120-125. I had my bloodwork done before my doctor prescribed it without PCOS or T2D diagnosis. I had high blood pressure and high cholesterol and BMI was overweight when I started.
Yes, your appetite will lessen and the food noise will go away, but I am still eating near 1400-1500 cals a day and losing which was impossible before. I have had no other side effects outside of feeling cold the day of and day after the shot. The results I’ve had thus far have had a major impact on my confidence level (and they’re improving my blood markers!)
How tall are you? 120 lbs is quite to very thin for someone above 5’5”
I’m 5’3! 125-120 was my standard weight
The biggest thing Ozempic does is control blood sugar and appetite. Which you can do through diet and habit. That means intermittent fasting and controlling your blood sugar by the foods you eat. Before Ozempic, which makes doctors big bucks (I'm sure they didn't tell you that 😉) I would try a continuous glucose monitor to see how your body responds to different foods. And see where your blood sugar is at so you can increase insulin sensitivity over time.
I'm sure your doctor also didn't tell you that Ozempic causes extreme nausea to where you completely lose your appetite. That's why people lose the weight - they don't eat. And then when you taper off of it, you gain the weight back because your appetite returns and you feel like a normal human. It's a quick fix that makes them money and nothing more.
Consider seeing a holistic doctor if you really want to get to the root of why the scale isn't moving. Then you can continue to enjoy food, not be nauseous, and save money all at once!
I’m on mounjaro and have lost about 3lbs a week at .25 dose. Life changing
You should be very careful, diet and weight loss pills can be very dangerous. You should see a Nutritionist and or a Dietician to educate yourself and learn what works best for you. It sounds like you hit a plateau which means your diet has to be adjusted as you lose weight. Losing weight naturally is the best way, weight loss drugs cause heart problems as well as other complications.
I went to an endocrinologist! I appreciate the concern but this was medically indicated, I wanted to get some feedback if anyone went through similar treatment
Calories in/out (aka diet and exercise) is NOT the only way to lose weight, and for many people their hormones will not allow CICO alone to be successful. And if insulin resistance is an issue for you, you can’t manage that with food. With your BMI, it’s hard to say whether this is the right indication.
I have lost 50lbs on Wegovy, (5’6”, starting bmi of 31, high cholesterol) and it’s been absolutely life changing for me.
Start slow and low - if .25 is working there is absolutely no need to increase your dose! Make sure you are staying hydrated, your bowels are moving and ask your doc for some zofran in case you get hit with nausea. Sometimes it can be hard to eat a thing, but you must - so make sure you have easy and available things like protein shakes.
Who on earth told you insulin resistance can't be managed with diet?? Diet is literally the reason you're insulin resistant to begin with unless you're type 1 and your pancreas just doesn't make the insulin. The truth is...people don't want to cut simple carbs. They want the cheat.
Yes, the first day I took it I felt immediately calmer, and my vision processing noticably improved within 3 days. Overall I easily lost 5 lbs within the first two weeks all mid sectional which was previously impossible. However, I have since bumped up doses and not experienced that much more weight loss, but lots of other positive changes that were no doubt linked to high blood sugar. Despite the scale not moving at a higher dose right now, I feel better than I ever have and very glad I started using semaglutide.
This may not be approved by your insurance company (if using insurance). You should check first as it can be costly.

It’s not tested in people at your BMI. People who are indicated for it, are quite likely to take it for life. In those studies, people gained back 2/3rds of their weight lost in one year.
My BMI is 25 and I took 0.25 for a month. I’m only trying to lose 10 pounds but have high cholesterol. Appetite slightly decreased but I’m still the same weight. Thinking of increasing to the 0.5 but I suspect wegovy simply doesn’t work as well on people who have lower BMIs and lead relatively healthy lifestyles
8-9 ish more!
Muscle also weighs more than fat. Keep that in mind.
What exactly are you eating? You can’t out work a diet
Read the side effects people! Cancer is one of them..
The honesty is the biggest piece. Are you REALLY eating the way you should to lose weight, or are you looking for a shortcut
You won’t be prescribed ozempic or mounjaro if you don’t have diabetes or pre-diabetes.
Wegovy (same stuff as ozempic but branded for weight loss) can only be prescribed if your BMI is above 28.
You can buy it by yourself online from clinic like vitastir, but that would be $1500 per month
False. Source: personal experience with both drugs. You're close on the expense, though. Without my insurance covering it, mounjaro is a little over $1100/month.
