ID for the past 14 yrs, partner at the firm, have a good # of clients, full case load. A client approached me about coming in-house, at the same amount I receive currently (normal company bonus instead of firm bonus structure). Normal hours, no weekend work. But no expense account :(.

In house I would no longer be litigating, but managing others and doing some general counsel stuff.

Anyone made a similar change? How did you feel about giving up the litigation lifestyle?

Looking for some advice…I’ve been told that transitioning to L&D should be “easy“ given my experience and skills (résumé posted for reference - note that I adapt it per position). (I have executive level exp. and cannot afford to start an entry-level position.)

Looking for a new mentor. Background- I previously practiced environmental law for some time and transitioned to health care about 4 years ago. Recently picked up pharmacy (in-house). Was upfront about not knowing pharmacy one bit, but expressed my willingness to learn. Fast forward a year later- still struggling with Pharmacy knowledge. Looking for resources.. cont’d below

Hi,
Wondering to get some advice on how hard it would be or get an understanding of the market to get back into private accounting/advisory or financial analyst after stepping away for 2.5 years. I was in public accounting for almost 5 years prior and stepped away as a supervising senior in audit for a mid tier firm. Would love to get a chance to connect/network with some people.

I am a fourth year attorney and am on track to be partner of a small but well established ID firm in 2-3 years. Our bread and butter is ID but I have the freedom to take on any matters I like.

I do not want to be doing ID forever but I really don’t know what comes next. What other similar but more advanced (and better paying) fields of defense litigation are out there? Is the next type of civil defense litigation just going out and being hired by private companies?

Any advice for a judicial law clerk who is starting law career in ID this fall?

I have another question - I’ll be going to a mid size ID firm that also does crim defense, family, environmental, and more. I get a bonus if I bring in business. How does that even happen?

Currently work at an ID firm (2nd year) and realizing that litigation (arguing motions, taking depositions, etc) maybe not be for me. Anyone in a similar boat and successfully transitioned either to in house or corporate without having the requisite experience many jobs require?

I worked FT as a paralegal and went to law school in the evening. I recently interviewed at a small ID firm in employment law with about 9 attorneys. They asked for a writing sample. I dont have anything recent but provided what I had from last yr in a legal writing class, it was not enough for them. I became licensed this May so I dont have an array of motions to pick from. Then they asked for my undergrad transcript, at this point, I am now annoyed They are not Biglaw. Are they going overboard
