If a boss who once fired you without a clear reason called you up and wanted to rehire you, would you consider it?

Any advice on how to deal with a partner/boss who is shifting all responsibility to me with zero guidance, no mentoring, and an unwillingness to discuss the issues? (Small firm, only associate under this partner and have been working at the firm for 2 years). There are an increasing number of passive aggressive comments from the partner who expects to be completely hands off once the case lands on my desk. Wants me to figure it all out despite cases being from different areas of law.

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. My company cut staff to 4 days/wk to save funds. I was getting requests from coworkers for docs needed urgently on our day off (fridays). I would oblige them. But then, I learned that those same coworkers had been put back to 5 days because they were deemed “essential“. I felt foolish and decided to stop working on fridays. Hi community, humbly seeking professional HR advice. I recently joined my company’s HR team. In an informal conversation, a senior HRBP, considered a peer, called 2 of our fellow HR colleagues “worthless.” I should have rebuked her then & there but was so caught off guard. This person is 20 years my senior. In the same conversation this person advocated for me on a separate matter & complimented my performance. I am not sure what course of action to take at this time. I recently had a specialist partner send me a fairly nasty email after I (a transactional first year) was told to ask them to review something ASAP that had clearly been on my partner’s radar for over a week. Moved from agency after 6yrs, into a startup (€8m Series A, high growth); first marketing hire. My manager is ex VC, seems to like managing by fear, let’s fire X, let’s cut the agency etc. sets tight deadlines & adds urgent items last minute.
