If someone says they will have an update for you in the next few days - how many business days does that mean? Would it be rude to follow up ? ( after an interview)

I got rejected for an interview from Big 4 NY Audit, even had referrals from Manager + level people. 3 years w/ audit senior at mid size firm, 2 years fed tax at big 4, and 1.5 years Internal Audit healthcare. Currently self employed for a year to work on investing. Do I literally need a partner level referral to get back into Audit? I thought there was an accountant shortage.

Was there ever a resume that you have come across that made you want to hire the person before you even met them? What made it so unique?

Total experience is 6 years.

Any recommendations for recruiters who are active in the region?

Currently scheduling “on sites” for a S&O role in CA. My referrer said they can hire as L5 or L6. Would like to land in the L6 bucket as I’ve heard 5 --> 6 is one of the more challenging promotions.

I’m looking for info on what the real difference is in responsibilities (manager vs IC, cross functional vs focused, etc) so I can focus on checking the L6 boxes during my interviews.

I’m also curious about whether this is something that I should just discuss with my recruiter directly?

How do I tell a firm I screened with that another firm I screened with is moving forward with full rounds? I would prefer the former firm, even though the latter firm is ranked higher. Thanks for any advice

So pissed! Paid tax firm $400 to file my taxes in 3 multiple states, they didn’t file my non resident NY tax efile saying i have to do it myself. Without providing the reason why and any instructions on how to do so, just saying it’s in its in the bundle prepared, just file it yourself. I cant even figure out how to file it on my own. So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me.
