If you have a laptop and a secondary screen - and you are presenting a PowerPoint over Skype (display desktop) on Screen 2 (display screen) how do you ensure nothing pops up when you open new windows.

Use the second monitor for the content you are sharing, then only share that screen. Every other application needs to be only on main screen.

like

The black box thing gets distracting. Just take two minutes to do what ibm1 said and then share that second desktop. Practice with a co-worker ahead of time if this is really the first time you've done this (man I feel old).

like

On the other screen (non displayed/shared screen)

Before the meeting drag all open windows to primary monitor and remove the taskbar from the secondary monitor. Close all non-essential programs and put messengers on do-not-disturb

Dont share desktop. Share specific program, e.g. PPT. Then all they can see is PPT no matter what pops up on your screen.

EY1 - I like that - where in PPT is that option - does that work with Skype for Business? I saw one button that said “share to an internet service” I think

You can upload ppt to skype (something like “upload a file”) and not have to worry about windows popping up, but can’t edit the file real time. Or “share a window” which allows you to real-time edit but will show everyone a black box if you open any windows on top of the shared app.

Some UX Slack channels were doing well for a while but I definitely don’t see as much traction there. Meetups obviously came and went. Even the portfolio sites like Dribbble and Behance don’t seem that same.

Generally curious how many companies offer phone reimbursement? My last gig did not but the current one does. Legally it seems, all employers are required to do so if we use our phone in literally any capacity (video call, slack, teams, emails etc). How prevalent is the issue of not reimbursing phone dues?
