I’m 25, been working in boutique financial planning/wealth management shops since college graduation (ba Econ & finance). I hold my CFP and CIMA- no graduate degrees. Is it realistic to be able to make a move to PE or IB space?

Build a massive book, hire client service people, business development associates and you will coast and enjoy a 7 figure income. It’s possible if you have the hustle. If you don’t love the actual role itself then I would suggest networking or specialized education.

I didn’t mind working as an associate advisor, however relocating I wasn’t able to find a similar role and got downgraded to a “paraplanning” role. Not allowed to solicit or give advice for essentially two years before they’re supposed to start transitioning me. Try to drive my own growth (asking to sit in on meetings, opportunities for career advancement in my personal time, etc) but just doesn’t feel like it’s being met with any enthusiasm. Feel like I’m getting to paid for a job that could be outsourced to someone for 1/2 the pay, having a bit of an identity crisis and feel no purpose or meaning in the role. Kind of scared putting part of my own professional future into the hands of people who don’t seem to push for too much growth.

Hmm why do you say no? I'm just curious.

If you get a CFA then you maybe able to

With the right connections and luck, it’s definitely possible, but probably difficult. It would definitely be easier with an MBA or maybe even CFA.

Why do you want to move into IB or PE?

Working long hours (which I don’t mind but it’s doing half brainless tedious tasks), feel limited in growth opportunities, and looking at just potentially pivoting to refresh into a role that would excite me

Sure you can. But you have to build your experience first and expand your network. It could be challenging but still possible.

Where did you relocate?

Illinois suburbs

Hello guys, I am a ML Engineer by profession and have recently heard about the AI Centre of Excellence at TCS.

I've that the COE team is supposed to guide TCS employees on client end. However, I've also heard that as they do not generate any profits, TCS moves them to client side as soon as possible.

Could anyone please share some insights about work at the AI COE at TCS? How's the team and how's overall growth in terms of skills and payscale? Are there any drawbacks of joining AI COE?

Any Spotify people here? Noticed there’s an AM role going at the moment in the UK but not sure what experience level it is. For reference I’ve got 6 years in ad sales experience with 3 years management (both in music industry). Would this be comfortable or is it worth holding out for AD?

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?

That little extra effort against something you didn’t “have” to do, every day, overtime will make you invaluable

My company cut staff to 4 days/wk to save funds. I was getting requests from coworkers for docs needed urgently on our day off (fridays). I would oblige them. Hi all, I have a question regarding retirement accounts. I am not sure if I should choose a Roth or 401k (company has 4+2% match). Currently 23, base salary is ~100k and investments have brought 45k this year which has me teetering between a 22-24% tax bracket. Wondering what the usual tax bracket is of people retired (around 65yo) as I’m not sure anything would bring in significant income with the exception of investments. In my case would a Roth make sense? Appreciate any answers!!
