I’m a 6th year in litigation, and I have a toddler and a baby. I am on reduced hours now, but it still feels too unpredictable and unsustainable. I’ve been thinking about taking time off and doing freelance/contract work to supplement our household income so I can be with my kids more. Has anyone ever done anything like that? Would love to hear any experiences.

What is your reduced hours budget? I am at 1,660 and considering to go down to 1,500. I used to be at 1,800 and I am finding that 1,660 helps, but I still want the additional time with my kids you mention.

I’m in civil litigation. I’m not sure there are many fully remote opportunities in the state where I’m barred, unfortunately, but I can keep looking. Hopefully I can figure something out

I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?

Around 5 years of experience preferred. But work and personality trump years in experience. Always remote+unlimited PTO. Send me books / portfolios.
