McKinsey & Company I am entering in the interview rounds with McKinsey and wondering if anyone had tips, online course advices or materials to share!
Also would anyone be interested or knows anyone to do a coaching session that has already worked in Mckinsey? Thanks! McKinsey & Company @

Best consulting firms without the massive ego?
Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!
A nice comfortable office chair.

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

You can’t fake P&L exp.
How can I jump start? Or do I have to enter industry and climb the ladder
Most important things are being able to: build business, be adaptable, foresee problems before they become big problems and creative thinking skills to solve those problems early. Think of times where you’ve either done those things or have been a part of the process of those things happening. You don’t have to have been fully responsible but if you were a part of that process in some way, talk to that. Maybe you were on a project that was starting to go south and your team did some things to turn that around and salvage the client relationship which then turned into more business.
Thank you so much, this helps a lot!
It’s really depends but at a lot of firms, director roles are more about domain or client expertise. What type of firms are these?
Some are small/mid size product companies, some PE/ VC backed portcos, some startups, nothing F500 size yet
If it makes you feel better it’s perfectly clear to me that most directors I’ve worked with had no clue what they were talking about. At that level it’s just general people management and politics. Requires no subject matter expertise or specialized domain knowledge beyond that really.

Become EM. Then go for it.
Can’t take it no more

They'll let you know if you're fit for the role or not, you just worry about applying
What industry? In many industries, “Director” is really just an individual contributor role or only leads 2-3 people. And there are so many functions. Consultants typically enter corporate with strategy and operations, business intelligence, or business development roles. No one expert consultants to have P&L experience
consumer products, healthcare, tech startups and some small & mid size PE portco

5 years at BCG and no reports? That is odd...
