I’m a JD and worked in big4 international tax for a year now. Most of my work is compliance and find the working extremely boring. I do some consulting work, but my focus is on compliance. I’ve been applying for legal roles but its been difficult. Wanted to ask what I should be doing to do more consulting / legal work.

Any good books for someone trying to understand the business side of marketing? Just got my review an they're asking I bring more of that MBA mindset to projects I'm on.

I have not been on a project for over 3 months. Since I joined, I have been put in training. The training got extended by a month and now it's close to 4 months since I joined and without a project.

What should I do? People say that I'm lucky to get paid without doing any work, but it is stressing me out. I need the experience. The uncertainty is freaking me out, with rumours of layoffs and the certification program and all.

I am currently working in secondary research domain in a leading consulting firm, and have primary market research experience with leading market research agency. Also have 2 years of pre-MBA exp as SAP Basis consultant.

Waitlisted at UVA Darden, accepted to a MS IT Management.

Previous military so I have a GI Bill to burn through. I'm waitlisted at Darden's EMBA and accepted to a 1-yr MS IT Management program.

My thought is that if I don't get off the waitlist, I can do the MS MIT this year then the EMBA next year. My mentor thinks the MS MIT might pigeon-hole me into the tech-only world and be redundant if I'm going to go on to get the EMBA.

I'm starting my first year consulting on an IT contract in June.

Lawyers in Public Accounting, what have your non-public accounting job experiences been like? If you’re currently in public accounting, are you happy where you’re at or do you aspire to do something different? I’m always curious to hear about career paths.

As a law student interested in going into the field I’ve seen a lot of negative comments saying that only lawyers who couldn’t get into big law go into PA. Although I know most people try to get into big law initially, it is very competitive and many don’t stay past 2-3 years. You certainly don’t make as much going into PA as a lawyer but the pay is certainly not bad and the WLB is generally much better. Can anyone speak to how they got into PA and if you would rather be working in Big Law

Currently accepted an internship at a firm for the winter and also just accepted a separate internship over the summer with a B4 firm. Should I inform the other firm that I already accepted a later internship with a B4 firm or keep it to myself until the internship is over? Anyone here start out in PA and leave to go to law school and come back? I’ve been contemplating leaving and going to law school for years. I have 3 years of advisory experience primarily in financial services/ tech implementation/ and restructuring. Bs Accounting with a 3.2 gpa MBA with a 3.89gpa.
