I’m a jr M&A associate with a second round interview at Arnold and Porter. Any insight (the practice, environment, etc) firm wide and specifically NY office would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not a sweatshop, firm is heavily liberal, people are genuinely nice, FaceTime in Corp is important to most partners in NY though less so over the last year (though I’d suggest going in as you’d be new). This year comp/bonuses are market if you hit billable requirements. Plenty of work. Great opps to advance early in your career if you show initiative and smarts.

Any M&A work they do would be with legacy Kaye Scholer people. So as you do diligence you want to hone in on what those ppl were like and Kaye Scholer generally.

Not quite right. I am legacy AP and have done Corp for years. Also the merger was years ago and doesn’t matter anymore.

Facebook managers, any tips for the data science manager final interview loops? Just got intimation that I cleared the screening round from two weeks ago. Have a conversation with the recruiter next week about the next steps, but any pointers would be great. The screening round interviews were reasonably easy. Is the next round an order of magnitude more difficult? Are Data Science managers expected to code or just read code? I got conflicting answers from the interviewer and recruiter.

Is it better to wait until promo before switching to other firms? Applying to MBB but worried that if I get the offer I’ll end up switching right before I get my promo from Deloitte. I would likely reset to entry level at MBB either way but the pay would be a substantial bump from my current pay (even after promo). I’m in my second year at Deloitte out of undergrad.

Plus pressured by parents to accept something before I graduate.
