I’m a litigation attorney interested in immigration law. Does anyone know if the court work is comparable at all to civil litigation? Trying to research before making the jump

I can’t speak to the specific work, but court work in immigration will largely be removal defense and not very similar to civil litigation.
Apologies if you have already researched this, but the pay decrease from litigation to immigration will likely be steep as well. Corporate/business immigration attorneys can make a decent living depending on the firm, but immigration is notorious for offering below market pay compared to peer groups in other practice areas. There’s also very little to no court work on the corporate side of immigration.

The best place for litigation and immigration is DOJ’s office of immigration litigation. Check it out

OIL Appellate defends the BIA and its mostly asylum. The district section practice is much broader (constitutional and programmatic challenges for example) but you will be defending the government.

Done it for decades. Rules are loose and randomly enforced. aif you are fast on your feet, innovative and have a high tolerance for BS, you can be successful.

Would it be hard to get a exp associate role in advisory at a B4 as someone with about 10 months in audit at EY, 7 months experience in corporate accounting at a F300 and CPA? Hated my time at the F300 but had thought the grass would be greener in industry. I’m starting a financial analyst position at a major hospital system in my area soon and want to stick with that for a couple years before making a transition but was curious if I just don’t have the right experience for a role in advisory.

I cleared technical round and during final call with HR, my salary expectations were higher as per HR.

My current CTC is 9lpa, skill-IAM and Java, YOE-3. I asked for 14lpa, best they could give was 11lpa. I know I asked a lot.

She didn't care to negotiate and cut my call and now they put my candidature on hold. Can I expect call back? Or i can consider myself rejected?

Can a non-US citizen lawyer practice cannabis/marijuana law? Is it advisable considering the non-US citizen lawyer would have to prove good moral character when he wants to become a US citizen?

Hi there! What’s the best way for a Dreamer to get their citizenship? I’ve renewed my AB 540 multiple times and would like to get the ball rolling on my citizenship. The Biden Admin talked about providing a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers but because of the pandemic, they decided it wasn’t an important enough issue to discuss.

How do you answer the question about yourself in i-944 where you can indicate "self" and it asks you if you live with said individual "self", and if this individual is filing for an immigration benefit with you or has in the past (again it's weird because you're talking about yourself.. ).

Just venting here… At WAS for an adjustment interview based on an affirmative asylum and the officer said he’s never done and affirmative adjustment before… and questioned my client when he said that he has never been in proceedings. Officer said “I don’t agree with that, I think you *have* been in proceedings” when we submitted the affirmative asylum approval and I had to show that to him smh. Why aren’t they training these officers 😭

I am an senior associate at a small (8-10 attorneys) immigration firm in NYC. My base is 110k and I get 30% for the cases and clients I bring in. My revenue was 370k last year and I did 250k till April this year.

My issue is, I have so much firm's work that I have hard time to work on my cases/clients. It feels like my cases are supposed to be done after hours (like after 6 pm). My work hours are crazy. I feel this is unfair and since my firm's taking 70% of my sales. Should I ask for a raise?
