No useful advice except to say I can barely manage to keep myself afloat while working in big law, let alone take care of another human. You’re a real hero.

I don’t mean to be rude but is hiring help not an option?

I empathize. My husband takes on more than his fair share of the kids/household stuff and it was/is still incredibly difficult to manage client/firm expectations, which have only become 24/7 since there’s a “no need to wait for you to be in the office, we can just zoom/teams now” mentality. It is virtually impossible when he has to travel for work.
I’ve definitely started setting more boundaries with my availability. It doesn’t always go over well but something had to give.
Not in the same boat but does your firm offer reduced schedules that might help.

I definitely empathize. The pandemic-level demands from work have left me totally burned out and a shell of my former self… I basically wouldn’t be functioning without my spouse now, and I don’t even have kids. At my firm, even the associate parents who have spouses or help have gone to a reduced schedule.
Can you afford a reduced schedule? Or can you afford even part time help (at less than it would cost you to go on a reduced schedule)?
