I'm an account manager, but want to get better at helping and managing my team. So, I've started doing some of the copywriting myself so I can get a better feel for what's involved, what's needed, and how I can help others improve. I recently attended an SEO conference and then spent a weekend reading everything I can get my hands on. I've also got a reading list I'm building out. What are your favorite books and sources to become better at copywriting?

I see where you’re coming from, and I applaud your willingness to be helpful beyond just managing the team. But I think you’re lightyears away from helping others improve since you’ve barely dabbled in it yourself. So not sure that goal is worth pursuing. And as a copywriter myself I’d about lose my mind if someone from account is telling me how to do my job.

After the context this makes more sense. Still unsure what your writers do, if they're not conceptual and not too strong on SEO? Anyway, it sounds like you've got the SEO-stuff down, so maybe try a book on Direct Response Advertising? It would add some persuasiveness and flow for you and your team. Steve Harrison's How to Write Better Copy is meant to be good. Haven't read it, but the guy's like the king of conversions, so worth a shot.
