You should have an hourly rate and a day rate. Take the annual salary you want ir believe to be fair based on your experience etc.., divide by 1,800 hours and that gives you a baseline day rate, but you should go higher than that to cover for taxes and health insurance. For the day rate, take your final day rate and multiply by 8 or 10. If a company wants a day rate and you think you’re walking into super long days, buffer the day rate too.
Yes, always consider health insurance, taxes, 401k match, bonus, etc. Good luck!
Depends on your experience, years, and where you are located.
Charge as much as you want. If it is too high, they will tell you. Set the number high at first, so they can't go too low when they negotiate.
As a consultant that used to set rates, I advise you to get your current rate and then multiply it x 3 or 2.5 to cover all the overhead costs.
