I’m curious to know if/when you apologize to your boss. I am 1 month into my new job and, although still learning, my bosses have told me that I’m ahead of the curve. Yesterday, I was doing a million things at wince and forgot to update the information on something important before I left. I have PTO today & when looking through emails I see my boss caught my mistake and fixed it. Should I send over an apology message for my mistake or just note my error in my head and do better next time

I'd wait until you're back, catch them in personal and have a normal conversation then say smth casual "thanks so much for catching xyz by the way, I'll definitely make sure I spend extra time having a once over before I leave for PTO next time!" Throw in a sorry if you feel like they'd appreciate it rather than hold it against you, I know some managers take apologies as confessions of fault...

Either way, I'd say acknowledge it and make it clear that it will never happen again. Good luck!

1. Don't check emails on pto
2. Thank your boss for catching what you missed
3. Catch it next time
4. Calm and believe in yourself, you'll be fine 😊

Does anyone else constantly get mistaken for a nurse? I get it, I'm 5'4 and Black and work in pediatrics, but the assumption and casual racism is kind of ridiculous when the actual nurse has just told you that the doctor's coming and then I walk in the door. Doesn't really help when I'm one of the only Black on-call physicians. Annoying.

Name the most ridiculous micro-managing by partners that you experience.

I’ll go first: MP told me that on initial emails, I am always to start with “Hello [name],” but after the initial email, I am not to address her by name again in the same thread. Initial greeting can only be “Hello [name] ” because just first name is too brisk and a “Hi [name]” is too informal. Had a 5 minute, in depth conversation as to why she prefers it this way…

Need some advice. During May of 2021 an operations manager and an hourly Hr employee started a relationship while the ops manager was married. We had supervisors give us pictures of those two kissing at workFast forward they are now engaged and getting married. The HR worker does not work here anymore since July 2021. Is it too late to investigate the ops manager for misconduct ? The ops manager has worked here for 15 years and is super valuable, the operation literally can not run without him.

What is a typical promotion pay increase?

Starting to see the writing on the walls, went ahead and got an offer else where but thinking I’ll decline. I don’t want to take the job and leave in a few months to a year. But feeling like I need to ply the game so I don’t go 1-6 months without a job. Thoughts advice.

I was given a promotion 6mos ago & told that the position was a lateral move & a raise would be given at my 6 month mark. Throughout my time at time at this company I’ve realized that they call people in to give their raise on the exact date of milestones (i.e: 6 mos, 1yr, & so on). It’s now been one week since my 6 months in this new position. I’d like to reach out to my boss and set up a meeting to review my work & discuss a raise. Should I wait a bit longer or should I set this up now?

I began a new position 2 months ago and took on a managerial position where I oversee a team and a week ago, my manager and I was discussing a delay that happened and how she gave my team feedback and suddenly she said to me that she doesn’t mind restructuring the team and make it a team where everyone reports to her. She also said that the only reason she is “allowing” me to lead is to gain management experience. I was shocked because I got hired as an experienced manager. What would you do?
