Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

You can call the hiring manager or other SDR BDR's at the company. Treat it like you're a sales rep trying to make the sale. Once you get on the phone, treat it like a cold call. Many hiring managers will love the persistence and you will stick out. If you cant get on the line with the hiring manager network through your would be co-workers.
Try asking for referrals in the Referral bowl to increase your interview rate:

Thanks I’ll check it out
Apply to jobs with low amount of applicants and look at inbound roles too try finding smaller companies look at different cities not be willing to relocate not just remote work
Go analog! Get out there and go to Chamber of Commerce and/or networking events. Find out what companies are growing and put yourself (physically) into the mix. Good luck!
Go to their company website, Call the office directly, get transferred until you find the hiring manager or your future direct report manager, Better yet, show up in person, if possible.
Caveat, A lot of sales jobs are from a recommendation/referrals/connections. Start talking to everyone. Your neighbors, your parents, your siblings’ friend’s parents…. The guy at the front desk of the mall who styles 2 spinal sales MDs, the random lady next to you on the plane that’s dressed in a suit, pharmD next to you at the bar while you eat dinner. You need to network 24/7.
Getting your linked in connections up is great but you need MORE. stalk your old Facebook accounts for those random college connections or high school parents. Everyone and everything is an opportunity. You just got to go out and get what’s yours.
Also use indeed and go directly to the company’s site to apply. Pretty much all applications have a space for your LinkedIn profile link so it’ll still send them there. If there’s a company you want, maybe check the referrals groups on here and see if anyone is willing to refer you.
Applying for a sales job is just like doing sales outreach. It’s a numbers game and it’s not personal if you don’t get hired. Just keep at it, that same work ethic is what you’ll need to get to quota anyway. Might as well practice/get in the habit of it.
I would probably put it down to the market and economy if I’m totally honest. I don’t know where you are based but with layoffs happening across tech right now, companies that could never attract this talent before are now able to because tech companies are on hiring freezes across the board so it’s really competitive, particularly for sales. I met with a client last week who is hiring for sales people in the US and UK, who has typically always struggled getting good talent say they are inundated with 2500 applicants per sales and tech position that’s going up. Whilst this won’t continue forever, right now the market for talent looking for new roles is booming. This client is in particularly dull industry too, it’s not tech and they’ve typically always struggled for talent and are now getting applicants from LinkedIn, Google, Facebook and Amazon! So it’s not you, it’s the climate we’re unfortunately in.

You have 120 LinkedIn connections?
Something like that. I think it’s at 150 now. Why?
Rising Star
Because you want a Sponsor inside the company to endorse you. The more people you are connected to, the more likely it is that you will find one, or know someone who knows someone. I have over 10,000 connections.
Yeah that’ll take a while to reach. But I went from like 40 connections to 158 in like 3 weeks. So steady progress. But I would like make more connections for sure
1. Join LinkedIn groups, stimulate conversations in your interest for sales
2. Clean up your LinkedIn profile - make sure you put your accomplishments front and center. Subscribe to in on LinkedIn. Connect with like minded sales executives, follow some inspirational LinkedIn posters and repost their content
3. Be a BDR! The BDRs I have worked with are insatiable… They are ridiculously persistent e-mailing and in-Mailing our potential clients
I recommend indeed. I never ever got any kind of interview from a LinkedIn application either.
