I have a couple of questions for ZS fishes-
1. Is it possible to turn down a promotion at ZS? I'm currently happy with my responsibilities as a Decision Analytics Consultant and don't want any added responsibilities in the near future (next 5 years)
2. Is it possible to shape up a career path in the BC stream which doesn't involve business development? I don't want to get into working on SOWs and RFPs.

Look at roofing or home improvement sales.
I second, look up HVAC or Bath Planet they provide set appointments. Also find a HVAC that provides a vehicle.
Itd be hard to sell homes or home improvements to a generation slightly older than you. They wont take you seriously. Cellular is great way to continue learning sales, grab great benefits and UTILIZE them. Free college? Do it! Having a degree but sales driven is a deadly combo.
New home sales consultant for a builder. Look into it!
Yes! Some have a small salary plus 2 percent comission. 6 figures my first year w no experience
Cellular sales
I'll second that. 7 years at Verizon, exceeded targets every year. I was making 70k in the retail channel. Left for pharma and I've been doing that for 11 years now.
Look at frontier communications they are always hiring for top talent

Look for Junior Account Manager roles
FMCG is a great place to start a career in sales (Grocery brands) like Mars, Cadbury etc
Or
SaaS roles are great as well
Logistics is also a really cool place to work ~
You need to look for roles that offer a mix of retention and new business - so you’d look after a portfolio of exisiting clients but have a target of new $ to achieve
Good luck in your search
Building supply companies. Cameron Ashley and 84 Lumber both have programs for learning the business and market.
AT&T Retail store would be a good option to explore. Pays commission plus a path to B2B sales.
check out staffing agencies. They always need sales peeps. Usual base is around 44-52k. Commissions is usually 10% on stuff you bring in. Decent window of time to sell you'll have 3 months before you have to start a job search again.
Agencies aren’t hiring a 19 year old with no degree
Saas sales, home remodeling such as power home remodeling, etc.
It depends what type of sales you want to do, inside or outside sales? Account management or hunting?
I think with your background in solar B2B outside sales would be a good fit. Typically hunting roles will pay higher commission.
Eventually getting into medical device, commercial real estate, technology/ SAAS would be lucrative.
To start and get the experience i recommend looking into outside sales positions at companies like ADP, Paychex, Trinet, Cintas, Granger, Abbott, or regional office technology companies (things like copiers, secruity, IT services).
At alot of these companies you are given a base typically between 60k-75k with the ability to make 90k-180k with commission and bonuses.
You are building a solid foundation and are on a good path.
Good luck out there.
A large automotive dealership group might be an option
Chemical companies are a great option as well. You will learn a lot because when you think of "chemicals" its not just what you learned off the chart in school. It can be anything from disinfecting, hand care, drain care, air care, cooling towers, lift stations and so much more.
the cable companies hire young entry level salespeople- they usually have salary plus commission plus benefits… Kind of depends on where you are but figure out who your local cable providers and look for direct sales representative jobs.
These jobs are actually really great for young people just starting out. They offer a lot of training. Also, direct sales is a skill you can use for the rest of your life… It will apply to all other sales positions.
Look at memoryBlue. It's a realllly good way to get into tech sales and make good connections to move up after working there. They have their flaws for sure, but I promise you it's a good entry into it and you have a great opportunity to get hired out internally by your client.
Also, personally, I wouldn't listen to the comments about selling to an older generation. I've sold B2B being in my early 20s and having purple hair and did just fine and made great connections.
I’ll hire you for a door to door roofing sales job if your interested call me at 801-649-8275
