I’m in a great agency and have a great job, but I’m in a not so great city. I’m bored, surrounded by old people, the city isn’t diverse, and I’m far away from family.

Would it be crazy to leave?

I was reading a post in another group that asked how folks were celebrating Diwali outside of India and 2 people mentioned that their whole street (in the US) exchanged sweets, put up lights, and pitched in for a community firecrackers permit. This had me wondering if this happened in the US for Eid as well in cites where there is a big Muslim population. Also, how do you all celebrate Eid? For folks who are grew up in the west, is there anything you plan on doing differently with your kids?

I’ve had to step away from social media for my own mental sanity as I have a major issue with comparing myself to peers when it comes to life stages. (Single female, 34, never married, no male prospects, dog mom.) As a result, I feel like I’m doing a disservice to myself professionally as social media is a HUGE communication channel. Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? Let's say Family consists of husband , wife and a kid . Working at a place with less then 10% POC total. Then watched as the majority of those folks left after less than a year. This virtual work environment has reminded me how much MAIP used to anchor me to a physical sense of community.
