I’m interested in furthering my career and I’m considering studying for the PHR or SHRM-CP exam. For those of you who are certified, do you have any advice and recommendations on which one you think might be better?

SHRM-CP is probably better. It has is gathering more pace as a contemporary certification body within the HR world. Also is not only recognized in the US. Their examinations are being taken in other countries as well.

PHR is fact based and memorization, SHRM-CP is more situational and real world. Both seem to be accepted by businesses but SHRM is becoming the front running in my experience.

If you are able, take the SPHR. There are only 5 more questions and it is more prestigious than both of the others you mentioned. If you cannot, consider the type of test taker you are and experience you have. PHR is more textbook answers so very black and white for studying. It leaves little room for interpretation or application. SHRM CP is more real world but difficult to apply if you have had limited HR experience.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

Looking to get a few certifications, I have worked in both IT and HR consulting and am trying to decide between ITIL, SHRM, and PMP. Any thoughts on which would be best for future, quickest to get, hardest test? I get the cert paid for and a bonus upon completion, so trying to decide which one to pursue or the order if I want multiple.

Hello fellow recruiters! I am looking to add credentials and have been seeing a lot about the SHRM TA Speciality Credential. Has anyone heard good/bad things about this or have any input on any credentials for a fellow recruiter? Or do you feel it’s best to just go for SHRM-CP or SCP?

Seeking advice for moving from industry leadership role (dr of training) into HC consulting. 20+ years in TD (L&D, PC, OCM). Industry roles for last 5 years but spent most of my career in small consulting orgs. CPTD but no degree (long story, about 15 cr shy). Would you suggest addl cert (CCMP, SHRM-C)? Will the lack of degree a no-go or is there a way in while I finish? A Sr director role is being dangled. Would the title bump help with the transition or do I risk missing a hot market?

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting since joining this platform. I’m interested in connecting with someone who is open to HR mentoring. I’ve been in HR now for about six years and have never had a mentor. I’ve been relying mostly on SHRM and other people in the company for feedback. Even if it’s for feedback, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

How many interviews did you go on before getting an offer? I have interviewed with 4 companies since October and was passed up on all of them. The interviews seem to go well and the people I speak are generally positive at the end that there will be follow up. I usually make it 2-3 rounds before being rejected. This is killing me...

I'm grounded cause my husband traveled. Under a new order, returning travelers must quarantine 10 days and they should isolate from others in the household, even wear masks at home. Husband is about to return from a work trip, & he's not on board. So to stay "clean" and able to go out myself, I plan to sleep in my home office for HIS quarantine, with my air purifier on, and mask up if we are in the same room. Ridiculously inconvenient, but I do not feel it's ethical to risk infecting others.
