Unlimited PTO is just a way for companies to save $$ by not paying it out when you bail, sounds good but it’s inferior to the PTO system you already have there at EY. Since I left EY the overall benefits have gone downhill, from the medical to the cash balance pension, and now the PTO
Absolutely not. In industry, this practice saves money. In consulting, this practice will result in people taking less PTO.
I hope deloitte won’t follow. Unlimited PTO is a trap - I will feel more uncomfortable/guilty to take PTO.

So you have 5 more standard days off that aren’t tied to tour compensation when you leave. Pretty trash still

People are overthinking the PTO change. I agree that the situation is dire at the firm and there is a lot of reason for frustration, but it’s a bit paranoid to see evil actions everywhere. Sure, there is a financial benefit to the firm, but (a) those savings should partly benefit all of us and (b) it gives us more flex for vacation time. I read a lot about “pressure” not to take unlimited vacation days (no $**t), but I am fairly certain partners and Senior managers have better things to worry about than tracking everybody’s vacation days.
We can not have it all.
People that get laid off at EY for performance should not get any payouts. And what kind of payout are unused vacation days anyway? A lot of complaining these days
Give yourself 6 weeks every year

19 paid holidays?!?!
How do they handle winter break now? My compensation package said I need to take 3 PTO days during winter break, but now they’re unlimited so
Just curious - if you wanted to take a month PTO (which is not really second guessed under traditional PTO plans if you have the days and give plenty of notice), is that even feasible under unlimited PTO plans?
Who approves the request? Your project team, or someone else? If it’s just getting an ok with the project team, this isn’t a big deal. If this is some external formal approval you need to get, like pressing some button on a website and getting formally approved/denied, this sucks
Did this go into effect immediately or is it starting 2021?
2021- need to use any remaining PTO this year or loose it (except in certain states like CA, etc)
Damn that notice policy sucks. I just requested and got approved 10 days holiday with 5 days notice. Why can't you guys just take holiday when on the bench and no obvious projects in sight?
Not sure if that was a dig at me being unresponsable but our team is small and leadership regularly updated us on the status on any and all pipeline opportunities which helps with holiday bookings. I can understand how in a massive big 4 beurocracy with much larger teams and less transparency this might not be possible
