I’m really struggling with OCD and health anxiety. Lately, I find myself scouring the internet obsessively reading about covid and trying to predict the likelihood of survival. I never want to leave my apartment which is terrible for my mental health and not good for my family. This pandemic is the worse thing for me. Is anyone else struggling with similar issues?

Stop googling. You really need to force yourself. Remind yourself of the facts- you’re doing what you can to protect yourself and most people recover and are ok. Then focus on something unrelated. By constantly searching for information and calculating your reinforcing the viscous cycle. Stay away from the news as well.

First, are you using OCD colloquially here?

Second, reminding yourself of the facts is key and grounding yourself in rationale thought is how you will manage your anxiety. However, if you struggle to manage those triggers I highly recommend therapy just to help you develop that muscle.

You need to quit worrying so much. Just exercise common sense. Go outdoors to a sparsely populated area and stay for a few days. Mountains or Ocean if possible. Get fresh air and distract yourself.

My kiddo was exhibiting the same behaviors at the beginning of all this. Therapy REALLY helped. Don’t go it alone.

Hi all! Currently in the process of a career pivot and had a question. My current company wants me to come back for a two week project in August. I started a new job recently and then had my PTSD seriously triggered, plus a panic attack.
