I did an MHA and found it super relevant, especially if you want to stay in provider organizations or move into hospital leadership. It’s very industry-specific but well-respected.
Depends on what you want to do in healthcare/consulting. Don’t take on the grad school debt if you don’t have a clear WHY you want or need the graduate degree.
Why not look at professional certifications instead? To me that demonstrates more knowledge than a graduate degree.
For private sector work, MBA. For provider-leaning work, MHA. For public sector or academic/research-related roles, MPA. There are roles with overlaps in most categories listed here, so like the others have said - your “why” and “where do you see yourself in 5-50 years” can matter a lot. For example, you can do an MPA with a focus in health policy, work for a public sector consultancy, and translate that to corporate/private sector experience. I’ve never heard of a Masters in HIT, though I’ve heard of certifications. PM me if you have any questions. I did my own in health policy.
I don’t have a masters but would say all the people I work with who do are 50/50 MBAs and MHAs
Agree with MD1. Graduate degrees for many are theory. You can demonstrate your knowledge through certifications on top of actual experience.
