Is wearing a $5,000+ watch ever appropriate at the firm or in court?

Wear what you like as long as it isn’t flashy. I wear an inherited Rolex daily (never would sell but does have significant monetary value > $25k), but unless someone is into watches, no one notices or cares.

like

Corporate mid level here (and super into watches as a hobby). I wear my 4k and 6k watches in the office all the time, no one other than watch guys notice. Partners are often wearing watches in the five figures (and one is in the six), so it’s pretty common in my office. I have no kids and don’t intend to have any, so my budget is very different than people who have to support kids and a spouse on one income.

Unless it’s some gaudy monstrosity, you’re fine in the office imo. If someone makes a comment about it, they’re insecure, judgy or both. No one knows anyone else’s financial situation, so it’s stupid to assume.

TL:DR, don’t worry about it.

like

It's easy to find DJs and OPs, but sport watches are near impossible to find new. Most dealers don't even bother keeping a wait list. Rather, it's total luck.

No.

I wear an Omega all the time. 🤷‍♂️

Just got let go and my manager said part of it was because I was looking for other jobs. I didn't look for other jobs at work, so I'm not sure how they could have known that unless a coworker snitched on me. Is it worth it to try and find out who or should I just leave it? Can't deny that I'm seriously pissed off about it.

Until about 4 months down the line, he announced to quit. It's about half of year now since I started to feel ever so alone, hopeless and helpless in the team. The actual work is within my capability, but takes me ages to learn coz the overall team is not so collaborative and lacks communication... Maybe I need anew job

I’m have a new theory about why juniors always feel like idiots and wanted to see if anyone else thinks this makes sense. I’m a third year, and am the most junior person all of my teams (generally me, a senior or two, and a partner or two), and I always feel like I’m messing something up. Is this just because I never get to work with other juniors and don’t see the mistakes they make, and that it’s relatively normal? And FWIW I went to HYS and I’ve had a clerkship so it’s not like I’m not smart

Welp! Finally got the axe today too. I didn’t even get to talk to my manager. One of the execs I support told me he’s very sorry and I was great, etc etc, but it couldn’t be avoided. Whatever. I kind of never want to work again. I’m heartbroken.

I once called someone in the 'C' suite out for being completely disorganized. I followed it up by offering project management advice. The conversation got pretty heated. I still have my job and we seem to have moved past it but I wonder if that interaction will have a negative consequence down the road. I don't regret it and would do it again, just maybe a little more tactfully but I was looking out for my operation and one of the managers that reports to me.

I’ve worked at the same firm for almost 5 years. I’ve received an end of year bonus of varying sizes- my first year, my paycheck was doubled. The last 3 years, I’ve received 25k-30k bonuses.
