I’m 52M and looking at divorce with a kid heading to college and one still high school. I agreed to pay for both kids’ college and live a like a pauper for the next 7 years. Any advice?

OTOH, 7 years might be a bargain depending on what he’s keeping.

I am not sure what your definition of a pauper is? Hopefully you guys have already saved something for college. When I got divorced, I agreed to pay double the required amount for child support and 100% of college. While economically unfair, I couldn’t be happier. Focus on the future and look at the bright side.

It really is!

Do the right thing for your children no matter what the cost.

If you were still married wouldn’t you be paying for school anyway? Don’t understand what impact your divorce has on the children you are already financially supporting.

like

How much you paying in alimony tho and for how long?

I have two kids in school (both out of state) and it’s expensive. My husband and I have really really cut back on eating out and slowed down on extra frivolous spending. You can do it.

Keep your promise

I have a pro bono case representing a homeless, disabled survivor of sex trafficking who has PTSD. She had twins with the man who trafficked her - they weren’t in a romantic relationship but he raped her. She was scared didn’t disclose she was being trafficked, and the courts took the twins from her because of the DV in the home (they didn’t realize it wasn’t DV, but physical punishment for resisting the trafficking). She now owes $18k in child support to California. (Continued below)

I've just started and no HR before me so they issued the wrong things. Been w/ my bf 5.5 yrs, but I keep wondering when he's going to "get it together". He's been fired from 2 manager jobs in less than a year, one because he was caught doing coke there (off-duty). Now he's bartending under the table. I have huge concerns that he has serious drug/alcohol problems but it also just boils down to, does he want to improve? He's the kindest, sweetest person and we really love each other. But at some point I need my partner in his mid-30s to have a savings account 🤷‍♀️

I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.

Thinking about applying to a fed consulting job. It doesn’t specify which security clearance I will need, but I will need one. My spouse works for a foreign company (here in US) that is listed under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). She is not a citizen of that foreign country, but just works at this company in middle management. Is this an automatic disqualifier for me to get a security clearance?

Hi - had 2 great interviews with PWC. Then had a partner interview and the partner was a bit rude and disrespectful throughout the course of the interview.. wondering if this is common practice to assess how you deal with pressure? Or if it’s just someone not being friendly.. honestly not too sure, but I don’t want to walk into a bad situation. The partner did mention a few projects they would want me working on .. so it sounded like an offer was coming.

My observation is that it is hard for consulting partners to land the quality public or private board roles everyone naturally targets. Despite there being a significant amount of exceptional talent that could be deployed, there is a big bias against consultants. Everyone wants “operators,” but I feel every board could also benefit from one current or former consulting partner. But sadly, that’s not the way the external world looks at things...
