I have had both APICS certified members and non members on my teams. IF the associate obtains the certification while getting practical experience, that is advantageous. However, I have hired and worked with those who focus solely on the APICS theory and it doesn’t always translate into operational experience. I would always take the associate with experience first
That’s great advice, I have been looking into it myself and was trying to find someone who I could chat with, if you don’t mind can I PM you
The concepts and content are useful but in Reality the big corporate companies won’t change their bad habits or supply chain strategy due to being inflexible. Could be more valuable to master the sc strategy your company has to become more valuable vs mastering content
It definitely gives you a good base to start with. I would say, a lot of those things come with experience that a certificate can't buy.
I mean if you’re looking for new jobs, atleast I see every other supply chain position asking for a APICS certification
It's worth it. But getting the APICS certification was harder than I thought it would be. Passing it requires more than simple memorization of facts. I would advise that you form a study group and practice sample questions together.
Lol it is frustrating when a job requires APICS but you literally went to school for supply chain for 6 years (bachelor's+master's; learned the same thing but in all the details). But the recruiter doesn't understand and keeps repeating they need APICS 😂
