Advice needed - boyfriend has almost 3.5 years of finance experience at a bank. Interviewed for PwC valuation senior associate and now recruiter says they want to hire him at “experienced associate” because he has no valuation experience. Is this too big of a step backwards in career? Should he push back and see if it gets him anywhere? If he does accept Associate, is it reasonable to ask for written, definitive timeline (1 year?) for promo to Senior upon meeting standards? Help!

I will check my crystal ball and get back to you. It would probably be riskier but could be a great move. Just because the is a potential recession doesn’t mean you automatically lose your job

Thanks, let me know what it says!
Yeah that’s true, realized that even if it’s riskier, they probably wouldn’t be offering me a job if they would lay me off ASAP.
There’s always going to be a looming recession.
How’d you get an offer to advisory from SALT? 😱 I’m in tax and it seems impossible to switch out
Good news is, there’s always a need for qualified SALT professionals, so you have that skill set to fall back on. Now, early in your career, is the perfect time to take a calculated risk!
Prob varies team by team but I’m in advisory (deals/FDD) and had many ppl recently leave to other roles. Doubt they are going to lay off anyone with this level of attrition. No talks of layoffs either (yet).

I don’t know why people seem to still have this misconception but I get the same offers from recruiters that fdd people do. If I wasn’t hesitant to switch jobs in the current market I would have definitely interviewed for one of the m&a and Corp development positions I got pinged about a couple months ago.
Ironically all the boutique m&a offers had 50% more hours on average for only 30% more pay with mandatory in office schedules all days. I’m at 117k base in lcol and completely virtual so I didn’t see the point.
Fuck it take the advisory role
