Usually doesn’t matter. But check with HR - your company might be different. At least let them know you’re interested way in advance of the 1-year mark because it may just take that long to move.
It’s a dumb rule - but every agency I’ve worked at had it and I’m 23 year in
NP. Good luck!!
Do what is best for YOU. If you’d like to make the jump, then I say go for it. Forget the arbitrary rules. But, be prepared to speak to and defend why you’re doing so
I started out as a print producer but let my boss know I eventually wanted to transfer into account. 10 months in, an AAE left and I took their spot! It can happen, but 5 months is probably a little too soon.
There was also this receptionist who went on to become a global CCO. You can do it, don’t rush it and talk to the right people. Good luck.
Why not? Do what you love, life is short.
It helped that the girl at reception wanted to break into a full time advertising role, so she took on my print producer role.
Most companies want have a 1-year rule
But what if my last role doesn’t have anything to do with my next new role?
Rules aren’t for everyone
