Is it incredibly silly to want to apply to graduate intern roles for industries you really want to work for? I am 2 years out and never had the opportunity to explore entertainment or sports roles because of Covid and there is no way to get a position unless you have demonstrated interest/experience. Should I just bite the bullet and plead my reasons why in my cover letter. Would anyone take me seriously as I’m a licensed attorney looking backward? Any advice?

Similar in that I’m also two years out and really want to do work in the entertainment industry, and COVID kind of prevented that for me too. I’m a tax lawyer right now.

Wow hoping one of us lands something and can help the other one out 🥲

Keep trying. Nothing personal, but you might have still been at it without Covid. There’s nothing to explain to anyone about your self perceived delay. Just keep at it and try to get some material experience and immerse yourselves in the trades so you know what’s going on. Good luck!

I work with great people. Really can’t say anything bad about my firm in general either. But…I still dislike the entire premise of law firm life, the billable hour, etc.. I’d love to work in a law school setting as a counselor or something but I can’t afford the pay cut. *sigh* Does anyone feel like being a lawyer is just doing homework all day? First world problems I suppose. I’m very thankful to have a job ❤️

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?
