Consulting firms accept experienced hires regularly. I frankly don’t know what a Knowledge Management Specialist does so I can’t comment on what your gaps are. But your resume should demonstrate business acumen and strategic thinking, and ideally an ability to present to an executive audience.
Super common!! So many experienced hires at my company. You can search open roles for “experienced hire” positions. I think Knowledge Management Specialist sounds potentially transferable, we do a lotttt of knowledge transferring in consulting. Message me if you see anything on Accenture’s job portal, happy to refer.
100% have seen many make the switch from other industries without prior business backgrounds or MBAs. You’ll need a proven track record of success (academic, professional, extra curricular, etc.) and the ability to interview extremely well, especially for more coveted firms like MBB/T2/B4.
What type of consulting are you talking about? There’s dozens and dozens of specialities. By your question, I’m assuming you’re talking about strategy consulting. I can’t comment on that since I’m not in business strategy.
You can get into consulting (e.g., cyber, risk, system implementation, transaction advisory, etc.) without an mba or coming in from undergrad. You will likely have to start off as a staff or senior, but it’s not impossible to get in if you’re brand new.
I'm interested in strategy, tech, or implementation.
Yes very possible but difficult w economy right now
If you want to do tech get AWS cloud practitioner and solutions architect certifications. (Or GCP or Azure equivalent). They’re pretty cheap to get and plenty of courses available online. That will get you into pretty much any tech consulting shop.
Yes it's very possible.
Yes - I got here 2 years into my career after working for a tech company. That was a little while ago when everyone was hiring, but conditions have changed now.
