Is joining Paul, Weiss now considered a reputational downside and how bad is morale? Asking seriously. They are top tier in work I’m interested and have experience in, but I have some concerns about the culture and would appreciate perspectives.

You’ve won dumbest question of the day. Outside of law schools, no one cares about any of the things you’re concerned about.

I don’t work there but my general perception is you’ll probably get some snickers and a few snide comments here and there (it’ll take some time to shed the whole “Epstein, Connection”), but I don’t think the firm’s external reputation has suffered materially because I have a hard time seeing clients actually leaving en masse due to recent events—though next year’s revenue and PPP numbers may tell a different story. Now, as for internal dynamics/morale, can’t speak to that…

I’ve been told by many practicing attorneys that if you’re a transactional attorney, it won’t matter much. It’s a slight reputational hit but the firm is doing better. I’ve spoken to associates there and morale is low, but not because of the Epstein/Trump stuff.

wish we held firms more accountable for this kind of thing, but we don’t. Their reputation is fine.

Ex-consultant now in marketing. Used to be an avid follower here and got great insights on companies when trying to exit consulting so thought I’d try here for advice. Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? A company along those lines.

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

Are interview case studies difficult? Is it done live or is it take-home? What should I expect in terms of content/questions, duration, difficulty?

A long post: seeking some perspective. My husband of 2 years that I’ve been in a relationship with for more than 8 years just woke up one day and told me that he’s unhappy in our relationship. I’m devastated because he’s never expressed anything like this in the 8 years. He’s been super supportive and loving, even when we were in a long distance relationship. He supported my career and dreams and this just doesn’t make sense. We have gotten a counselor but things aren’t getting better. Comment>

AT&T: HBO-MAX is probably top 3 stream platforms along with netflix and disney plus. Despite this AT&T trades at a super low multiple. Is this the next glow-up a la Disney this past month? I think so. They've already got an extensive library and have consistently over 20 years delivered the best shows on TV, period. I understand that the core AT&T business may seem like a "liability" to the valuation but I still think that their valuation doesn't make sense. What am I missing?
