Learnt today that management of our biggest client got fired. Higher ups at the agency said today that they didn’t give us this news last week because “they didn’t want to spoil our weekend” contd...
Are trial court clerkships a good way to get litigation exposure? I have minimal responsibilities outside myself and could afford to live on the peanuts they pay judicial clerks in pa for a year or two. It's something I kinda wanted to try although I'm about two years out. I currently work in a legal adjacent job bc I got fired and was wondering if judicial clerkship would be a way to help employers overlook that. Any former trial clerks here? Was it beneficial? Depends on goal or judge?
Anyone else not care too much about getting laid off but at the same time see it as a huge inconvenience? I was looking to make a switch but opportunities are dry and I’d like to leave on my own terms
Do you think Havas NY will become a respected shop with the new CCO and the people he will hire, or is it just a continuation of their layoff-and-replace revolving door culture?
Venting: We recently fired our first employee (part-time assistant) and I feel sooo terrible. But she was really wasting our money and not providing the benefit. Anyone else deal with this and feel bad?
Hello there, i’m wondering if anyone on this group has experience opening your own agency? I was laid off in April and had been freelancing ever since. I have been luck enough getting a few projects without really seeking people out while slowly interviewing. In the back of my mind I have always wanted my own agency. How do you get more clients and dealing with the sales/pitching process on your own? also as WOC i don’t feel like have the right network to tap into for higher earning projects
Will Slalom ever do covid layoffs?
Industry vets - in your experience how recession proof is insurance? I was not yet in the job market last recession but I watched my mom get laid off and struggle to find employment during that time for the next 1.5 years. I was wanting to hit the job market towards the end of this year, but now I worry that if I do move companies, the recession could put me in position of last one hired first one fired. Is it better to stay put?
For those of us who have been laid off, are you searching immediately for a new role or are you taking time before looking again?
Specifically geared toward other folks working at startups/tech companies- anyone else feeling extremely anxious about all the recent layoffs? I’m starting to have pandemic flashbacks…my company is doing fine, but I think back to March 2020 when my last company’s CFO assured us we had close to two years of runway and then 10% of the company was laid off in April. Sucks to know that your role is always the first to go in times of turbulence.
out of curiosity, what’s your intake on changing jobs in current economic situation?
i am satisfied with my current role, company 50/50, benefits. but it’s never enough, right. i have a total of nearly 3 yoe in my company moving upwards.
recent big tech layoffs make me think twice before replying to the offers.
what TC increase % would make you go for a new company right now?
Here’s a weird one: Alfonso Marian was quietly fired from Ogilvy, CCO . Nothing was said in an email or a pr statement. He was a collossal disaster and a jerk. Good riddance. No Lions, no job!
How does M&A consulting fare in a recession. Considering joining a B4 but nervous given recent tech layoffs and talk of an impending recession.
To people who've been layed off or fired, do they seize your laptop in the office or were u/they informed on a call and had to return it to their home office. Just curious
Lateraled in the last year and started with great reviews but I’m getting burnt out and have been making more client-facing mistakes lately. I’m scared I’m making a really bad impression and that I’m not gonna last another year at my firm. How do you calm your fears when you feel like you’re going to get fired/demoted?
A former colleague from some years ago told me my old team was hit by layoffs. Basically all the people I worked with there once upon a time, including a few lifers who were there through '08. Do I reach out and say anything or no?
I'm not in a position to give them any leads since I happen to be looking myself right now, but feels like I should at least offer an ear to listen

Serious question here. I’m a second year senior at BDO in a specialty tax service. I have a lot of friends still in public at both big 4 & mid-size(went to a large state school). Every person I know that I talk to is saying their firm is having the same issue as BDO - resource issue in audit worse than EVER. Like seriously concerning how short staffed everyone is. So my question is does anyone still want to do audit? And why is everyone running from it more than ever?

Firm sent me a collections email saying I owe a balance of $1000. I left in late 2020 and made sure my AMEX was zeroed out. The charges in question were from 2019 so I would’ve definitely seen any outstanding balance and paid off.
If everything was squared with AMEX what can they do? Any suggestions here?
