I am from ROW like you. Applied Jan 2011. Perm approved Nov 2011. Was supposed to get card in 2016, but got it in Jan 2014 because President Obama expedited dates for ROW. You should be able to get the card 3-4 months after perm approval.
In the past everyone was initially approved for the green card. This is called Perm. Then, based on your category, you would be given a place in line, called your Priority Date. If you were EB3, which means a US BA with five years experience, you'd have to wait at least five years to get the actual card, and much longer if Indian or Chinese. Obama changed this so that Rest of World peeps don't need to wait. Only Indians and Chinese do. ROWs can now get a priority date which is within 2-3 months of their perm approval.
Look up the latest visa bulletin. It describes the dates and wait for each category. Look at employment based for ROW and your degree.
Processing time from USCIS still takes a while for the I-140/485.
Still highly dependent on USCIS backlog. They took 3 mos just to print and mail us our EAD cards after they were approved.
Wtf does a Brit have to worry about. Oh ya. You don't have any colonies left. Feel for you.
Sounds like a digital consultant has a chip on their shoulder
Application/perm process takes 8 months minimum. Actually getting the cars another 3 to 4 months. This is the best case scenarios, more likely 1.5 yrs.
Dependent mostly on USCIS and whether you get selected for a background check. Bg check is conducted by FBI and they don't prioritize it so it takes forever.
1-2 years
Lol
Hey P1, why such a long time from 2011 to 2016? Or even 2014?
Yep for Indians it takes around 15 years
Agree that the process is really unfair for Indians.
Pwc2, lol, I did some quick math a few weeks back, eb3 is looking at 40 years or more if there are no visas transferred from ROW to the India bucket
Op: how long have you been in the US? Unfortunately the philosophy is 'get in line, take a number.'
^huh?
