It really is humorous now. When I tried to get in consulting last year around this time, I was told I already missed the window because the campus hire classes were already picked. Waited till January and was told again, I missed the window because I should have done it when the campus hires were already in so the firms knew pipeline. Waited again till about May and was told slow down bc most firms are in their last quarter, better luck at beginning of fiscal year. And now, apparently layoffs. 🤷🏽‍♀️

The partner in charge of my office had a nearly hour long conversation Tuesday with our new hire, behind closed doors. I didn’t hear yelling, but the bits I heard weren’t good. Will he be fired?

As someone very introverted and shy, what would you recommend as a good career? I have been working as a functional/business analyst for the past 5 years and it has taken a toll on me. I’m always exhausted and unhappy. And my anxiety is unbearable. I’ve been thinking of maybe specializing in something more technical. So that the people aspect isn’t as big of a responsibility.

Is there any advice for networking into projects when you don’t know many people at the firm yet? I always to help on BD work when I’m on the bench, but it never turns into any billable work. Every time I have talked to a partner/senior manager I was told I don’t have the skill set they’re looking for, but I don’t know how to build up from there. Feeing very lost but I want to improve my approach.
