Can’t speak to other firms, but PwC US didn’t lay anyone off.
Our revenue grew a bit (certainly not a “huge” increase) but our headcount grew far more in anticipation of much higher revenue growth. Assume D and EY are in roughly the same boat. Topline growth is pretty irrelevant in and of itself.

This is not true. I know 9 people who were let go.
As for revenue, I'm not privy so can't comment. I understand the need for the firm to save reserves looking forward. The drop in revenue this year is the concern.
I do think new hires and interns should have been pushed. But who am I.
