I’ve been talking with some friends and former coworkers about “recession-proofing” my work experience. I used to think healthcare was pretty recession-proof but I’m seeing more and more cuts and layoffs and it’s getting me concerned. Is this a recession-proof field or does it just depend on the position and the place?

You cannot simply recession-proof at a career level. Every employee irregardless of your area of specialty is dispensable. I have used my career to grow outside the job space: create passive income, diversification etc! Leverage your career to grow elsewhere

like

That's interesting but I really don't know how I would go about that

I agree that I no longer feel like it is necessarily recession proof. Especially because some companies are just going to be less successful than others, and they will have to cut costs, etc.

My anxiety makes me good at my job. My incessant checking, and double checking, and analyzing has earned me praise, trust, and early promotions. Sometimes I wonder, if I were to take medication to give myself some relief, and to stop the panic attacks, would I be less productive? And then I wonder, do I value my own health so little? But I’m so validated by my performance...sad isn’t it? Hope I’m not alone.

I am seriously worried. I am doing my co-op and my supervisor is not giving me an easy time. I am trying to do my best even with very little direction and this supervisor constantly harassing my about things like her not being able to use google meet or to remember passwords. I feel bullied and very anxious. I am afraid she can jeopardize my visa with a bad evaluation. I have been working at midnight, on Sunday mornings but I am human, I make mistakes, she just blames me instead of teaching.
