Bain & Company Atlanta people! I’m in the process of applying for MBA programs and wanted to ask what recruiting is like for MBB from Emorys program? Is there a reasonable shot at getting into the Atlanta office from Emory, or are those openings primarily filled by other schools (Duke, UVA, etc.)

CPA over a master's. do you have enough credits to sit for the exams?
That’s correct. It was 120 before. I agree masters in accounting will not do much for you.
Don’t do a masters in accounting. Look into a computer science master. The future of accounting is in how we can use technology to move us to better quality, better use of the data that we have at our finger tips, and continuous audits or tax work. You will learn all of the accounting you need on the job. Just look at what the aicpa has been doing in regards to tech, rpa, and ai for audits. The accountants of tomorrow will be those who can tech enable every aspect of what we do. A masters in accounting is not necessary for your success.
This is a great advice
Masters in accountancy is pointless. Just do CPA. If you wanna go back get your MBA.
lol no
I don’t think it’s worth it. An MBA is better if you have to go back to school.
Waste of time
If it is a 1 year Macc, NO - complete waste >>> especially if your goal is CPA
I have my masters of accountancy and everyone asks when I’m going back to school to get my MBA
So to get to 150 credit hours I did the MS in taxation. Yes I think that degree was worth it.
I’ve always said if you majored in accounting go get your masters in something else like data, information systems, computer science or go nuts and get your masters in something you’re passionate about. For example, now I realize I love art and antiques - a ms in art history would have been cool.
At work I really see how ms in taxation or computer science would be super helpful.
This is just my two cents.
If we all took the exact same path in life that would be boring :)
I personally didn’t feel like it was a waste to be honest, if you’re gonna take classes to get to a certain number of credit hours, you might as well do it or get an MBA. Masters> no masters. Being better equipped is always better than not.
Dont escape from reality...
