Do you do entertainment/IP related work in your current position? Do you want to do talent, production, distribution or finance? Entertainment law is ridiculously hard to get into. It’s all about who you know. Talent boutiques always get internal references, biglaw firms are super snobby and usually hire through their summer programs, and studios want like a million years of experience. And you pretty much have to be in LA. There’s some work in NYC but pretty limited.
Nobody wants to train anyone. You also need cred in the industry that only experience can provide. Read the trades, go to CLE symposia in entertaiment law, see if you can get some supervision and get some experience. This is key.
