Negotiating with EY for M/SM Tech Consulting. I have 15 years experience, skills are in demand and my interviews went extremely well. 1. What are the salary ranges for M and SM in NYC. 2. I am told it is only going to be a M now, for my own benefit-no EY network means failure at selling. Whats the highest salary I can negotiate at M. Any other tips will be handy. I have "sold" (support on sales & new roles through relationships) plus I have solid delivery experience. I really want SM 😀😀😀 EY

Exact same as applying in my opinion. How you got to the interview stage (recruited vs. cold applying) has no bearing on negotiations.
I don’t think it gives you more leverage in the sense that you still need to position your negotiation carefully and not outplay your hand but I’ve found it gives me more visibility into what the comp range is when I’m being recruited versus when I apply directly
I agree with this. Being actively recruited can help, but there's only so much they can do about the money they are offering, and I've noticed it doesn't change much whether you were approached or applied.
You might get more leverage in the sense that you are being “hand-picked” for the role. It’ll still come down to you proving that with your experience, skills, or what you can come in and start doing.
I was recruited for my current position directly from the manager of our biggest competitor. We both knew what I was asking for was more than what they have ever paid this position. The new employer knew it is not worth leaving to get paid less. It was a better opportunity for growth and a better culture than where I was. I was upfront right away about what I needed. I knew I was worth paying it and could back it up. I think you do have a little leg up if they came to you. As long as you can back up what you are asking for.
