I’ve noticed that “urgent hiring” often leads to compromised decisions. Roles get filled quickly, but the long-term impact shows up months later. HR feels that pressure, even when timelines aren’t realistic.
Is speed hurting hiring quality in your organization?

Yes because the teams later say the person they hired wasn't a "fit" and we have to go through PIP, or fire someone... not to mention team membres' time lost onboarding and training the new member... but in the end, hiring manager's call and all we can do is advocate with data to show the impact to the business and team members

Agreed

I completely agree. I’ve seen postings for projects lasting only 3 months which I know takes much longer from doing the same project at other companies.

Yeah

Absolutely. Hiring out of desperation results in a bad hire 99.9999999% of the time. A vacancy is ALWAYS, without exception, worse than a bad hire.

I have seen rushed hires create more work later. Fixing a bad hire takes longer than hiring properly. I would push back on unrealistic timelines where possible.

Understandable.

How and when in the interview process would you go about asking about a company's philosophy on/commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)?

I'm actively interviewing with 5 companies right now, but the one that seems most likely to give me an offer is also the only one where I've so far only been interviewed by 3 white men Is there a delicate way to ask why there aren't women and BIPOC involved in the hiring decision process / whether leadership at the company is more inclusive?

Hi everyone, I got hired on as entry level sales operations role back in January. It quickly turned into sales, and eventually all the sales for the small company once the head of sales left. I am happy to take on the additional role for my company, and they are going to let me. But they feel that without multiple people in a sales department the title head of sales might not be the best title. I have input in what my updated position title and salary would be. What should I ask for?

We have sales people in Canada and the US, the Canadians make 150K CAD and down here it’s 150K USD, the Canadians argue they should be making 30% more than the US colleagues to be equal bc of the exchange! I explain the salary is dependent on the market data for them in Canada, WHERE THEY LIVE, and you can’t compare it to the US employees and the market data down here. Overall they are both in the 75th% for total comp. for their industry. Am I wrong?

I'm not sure of where to go after that, but I doubt I will stick with recruiting or my current firm.
