Once had a CEO say to me “stand up and greet me like I pay you”. That didn’t sit well with me. I then got written up by my supervisor for having a bad attitude after that was said to me.

I quit 3 months later. I never recovered from while working there.

My previous company, I had a manager who worked on the other coast so there was a very different way of communicating between the two of us. That plus also being a minority, she decided to write me a whole essay about how I’m defensive. Mind you, she was an airhead and a very handoff manager so she wasn’t teaching me anything just delegating without the actual details around the task.

It was always “go Google it” if I had a question. That paragraph she sent me was such bullshit about how I need to learn how to self manage, be less defensive and learn how to speak to her. I definitely feel like she pushed buttons on purpose because I didn’t even speak to her, she had someone else manage me.

#1 Working with a fellow SVP, strong smart white female account person & she said after we were strategizing and I was being assertive to ensure my team & client’s needs where captured & heard. “I like you just like I like my coffee, strong & black”.🤦🏾‍♀️ I didn’t expect that one. A first for me, didn’t have a response. She honestly caught me off guard. “Excuse me” with my mouth open was all I had. memorable.

#2 my boss at a non profit. Set the stage. White male from Kentucky, lives in Minneapolis, but worked previously in Richmond VA and made a comparison of the most racist city the day George Floyd’s was murdered in Minneapolis: “Minneapolis is one of the most racist cities in the US, but VA is better because “THEY” learned how to live together.

My manager nominated me for judging a small programme happing virtually with two other head of the Department, but when I joined the programme someone from office outside was included for that with director and those two HODs were also not there... I prepared my speech, well dressed up but when hosts announce the name of judges I felt bad... he could have atleast informed me... everytime he does the same kind of thing and than says in corporate sector types of politics happens...

Is my manager forcing me out?

In our 121 last we had a good discussion on creating a personal development plan, with the idea being I’d write down clear goals & action points to get from my current level to the next, and I’d provide weekly evidence of it. I prepped the doc accordingly, but instead of wanting to discuss it, he said I have 4 weeks to “turn things around” - without giving any new info on what I’ve done wrong - esp given I wrote my goals based on this same feedback from last week??

What is the advice on what feedback to leave for a peer who really sucks at everything y'all have worked together on? It's about the time where everyone on my team requests feedback from each other and I'm nervous for it coming up. I have a partner who routinely ignores emails or responds to them several weeks later. He has to approve every single document sent to the client or the court, which means you have a physically go to his office to ask him to review something. Half of the time you go to meet with him in person, he’s either on a call or otherwise busy. I find that this basically creates more work and makes meeting deadlines extremely difficult. Is this normal?

My manager scheduled a feedback conversation and I know it's bc I've made some noticeable mistakes lately due to moving too fast, not being able to focus, racing thoughts, etc. I'm seeing a therapist about whether I have ADHD and if so, what tx looks like; we started the intake process which will be continued in my 2nd appointment, which is after the feedback convo meeting.
