Great way to build a reputation, hire and fire. Much prefer dumping the bottom 10% of the 3 year plus coasters.
S5 here is the thing. I wanted to join S& while interviewing, but after landing at PwC FS realized that the most influential, highest revenue-generating Partners are on the PwC side. And all these partners were in my group. So if you want to stay at PwC long-term, it's better to be aligned with these Partners. They may not be doing Strategy work but they bring in the revenue, pure and simple. Meanwhile S& is a shitshow post-merger.
A lot of first year fires, only reason utilization. There is not enough work
We are a dumpster fire. Everyone is interviewing from A to director. But hey, at least we have utilization minimums for bonuses
Why don't just fire all the people that DECIDED to overhire ?
And yet they're hiring boatloads of interns ... it was pretty painful to meet them after seeing your friends get axed 2 weeks ago
I got axed. And a few of the interns who met me during recruiting reached out right before I left. I didn't respond. Didn't want to scare them. But should I have warned them?
S& is a mess, couldn't believe how long people have been on the bench for
We have a negative bench here. Let me know and I'll throw a burner out.
@s5 you should talk to them. I wish I knew what I was stepping into - I already was on the fence given my own research on Glassdoor etc and would have made another decision. I'm still with the firm but don't feel like my career and professional development have progressed since I've joined. I would leave if not for the bonus clawback and need to pay student loans.
Well that is what is difficult to understand. Several SA1 fires too.
Pwc has several groups that could use the strategy skillset... specifically due diligence. Look at DDV, FDD, etc. good luck everyone.
Heard S& let go lot of good performers and were given shitty reasons...the underline issue is they are not able to sell as per expected margins and revenue goals..Director utilization is way below par, heard Overall S& Director utilization is less than 30%...they will still get 100% bonuses which are way bigger than PwC bonuses..average S& Director bonus is 50% and Manager is 40% and they will get it for sitting on their asses at home for majority of the year...lot of talent being let go...highly warn any campus hire to think twice if they have an option..
Op my feeling is that S& salaries are too high, and unsustainable given they are on the bench 40% of the time.
I barely survived this year utilization <40%
We over-hired in a major way last year, particularly in our consumer products team. Lots of first years paid the price for it unfortunately.
That's sad
They're firing at all levels... plus you can't fire the people who are supposed to sell work. First years can't make sales
Slalom - I would love to connect. Burner?
P3: directors don't get measured by utilization, they're measured by sales
@P1 - booz & company was shit show before merger. Hence they had to sell. They thought selling old wine in new bottle (S&) would work.
