Make sure it's NOT Northwestern Mutual or any other insurance company claiming to be a financial advisor.

like

Always ask about fees, make sure they’re not pushing their bank’s products, and try to get in on some hedge fund plays your advisor should have connections with.

That’s really the only reason to have an advisor <35/40 unless you have an seven figure NW. Otherwise open a brokerage acct, buy VOO, VTI, reinvest dividends, repeat.

Thanks. I guess as a foreigner, I got a bit overwhelmed. In my home country we rely on financial instruments that do not seem to be very popular here. But I’ll keep your advice in mind. Thanks.

Hey there! really need a change in pace from being in higher levels of care, and am wanting to go part-time with my company and private practice, but I want to buy a house in the next year and am worried about finances. Can anyone speak to the hardships or successes or a counseling of practice and/or buying a home shortly after starting one? I feel trapped in my current job because I’m worried the timing isn’t right.

Just got a job offer but they are only giving me until Monday afternoon to decide. I'm currently in process at several other firms and the recruiter said they can't/won't give extensions. How bad is it for me to accept and then decline if I get another offer? The other companies would be paying 15-30k more and I feel like that's way too much to give up especially right out of school. I emailed the other companies I'm interviewing with to see if the process could be expedited and (1/2)

Would love to get insight from folks here as I’m not quite sure what to do. I currently have around 14K in student loan debt and enough saved up to pay it off in one fell swoop. What I’m struggling with is whether I should invest that money into the stock market (thinking less risky S&P 500 ETF) and pay off my student loans monthly with the average payment being around 1000 so I can pay it off in about 16-18 months (due to interest being around 5%) or pay it off all in one go?
