Mine was mainly from firing m249 down range with no ear pro. Was also on the flight line when going in and out of country as well as IEDs that went off in close proximity. I'll keep you posted.
Right. So 50-70% being accurate. Claims coach so PTSD isn’t the only mental health claim either. Said there’s combat, non-combat related and then a third
I’d call and ask for a second appointment.
I got approved for tinnitus. Service connected.
Congrats!! Waiting to get my exam scheduled currently.
No. You’re a lock.
Is the ringing still occurring after the ear wax was removed? If so, might not be due to the wax.
About to submit my tinnitus claim. Interested to see how yours goes. Was on the flight line a ton and have similar issues
Based off of your job , I don’t see an issue with your claim for this issue being approved. I was in a aviation as well and I reported a similar issue. My claim was denied for hearing loss but it was approved for tinnitus.
Very quick and straightforward. They asked questions and I did a hearing test.

Tinnitus is generally a gimme for anyone who served, but I would rely on the actual paperwork readout surmised showing any degradation in hearing and not some random earwax notice
The hearing test is them just blowing smoke. It doesn't prove anything other than whether you have hearing loss. I understand the process is the issue here. I'm just saying that not all those who have a tinnitus rating have had a hearing test. The VA is not on the veterans side. That's why they ask specific targeted questions to try to either trick you or get you to say buzz words that they're looking for in order to have whatever you are claiming not be service connected.
I mean- it’s also only 10%
And a free VA loan charge. Around 10k when you buy a house.
Just be prepared to submit for a higher level review and you won’t be let down.
Mine was very straightforward. It went fast too. I applied late March and have my decision letter coming in the mail already. I will be filing secondary claims soon.
Happened to me as well. “Excessive ear wax.” I eventually got it a few years later.
Earwax has nothing to do with tinitus. I was approved after about a three month wait. I was a flight line F15 crew chief.

Ah fair guess that’s a plus side
