Curious (selfishly) at what the company range is foe both of these ? I’m also interviewing with both firms at the M/SM level
Wow sorry, typos galore. Didn’t realize until now. But yes, comp at both companies :)
I just joined TD a few months ago as a manager (moved from another firm). I don’t mind it but I feel like consulting is consulting no matter where you go.
Mentor
I’m ex D
If comp is the same - go to KPMG, I’m getting similar exit ops while working 75% of the hours.
Yes, Deloitte HC practice is best, but the hours come with the “prestige”, TD is a massive target growth practice for us, for strong performance, you’ll be set up for success, especially as a director
Am newly minted SM at deloitte hc. Had a similar choice at SC. WLB is good here!!
Whichever fit with the people is better. By far
Choose the people you feel most comfortable - per comments we didn’t lay off more people than anyone else during pandemic…and work life balance will be the same. Let’s be honest it’s still consulting. Deloitte is doing big push for better work life balance and I do feel it. Brand recognition is better with Deloitte agree with your friend…
I’m hearing horror stories of WLB at Deloitte but I’d love to hear your perspective and how they’re changing that
Been to both. KPMG
The D human capital rep is good but it’s mainly just consultants that know about that. Most industry hiring people won’t care that much about it, they just know the big 4. So go for less hours, same pay at K.
Deloitte will take you to other big fives in the future.
What were the offers if you don’t mind sharing? I’m also interviewing at both for manager.
If the goal is to eventually exit to industry than go with whichever firm is going to go be you the best quals / stories to tell when going back to industry. Personally I think Deloitte tends to get the “more impressive” engagements, but obviously I’m biased.
If you’re coming back to make Partner, then choose whichever one you think gives you the best combination of “get there quickly” and work life balance.
I came from kpmg and switched to a boutique firm
Federal or commercial practice?
Commercial
Didn't D layoff a ton of their human capital team during the pandemic? No knowledge of kpmg, but I think you'll be fine at either or since they're still big 4. Yes Deloitte might be slightly better brand recognition, but you'll still have to network for great exit ops in the future anyways.
At this point if you’re an M/SM you can do whatever you want bro. Just go wherever you’re getting the best vibe. Do a little research within your network and just try to ask around as much as possible.
Any reason in particular you assumed this person was a "bro". ?
Deloitte’s desperate right now for bodies. It’s good and bad but that’s where I would go. There will be more growth potentially and depending where you go you could have some good leadership.
